Staff Physician, Correctional Health Services Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Physician to join our Correctional Health Services team at PAGNY. As a Staff Physician, you will provide primary care to patients in jail-based clinics, perform intake evaluations, and provide emergency care with the support of Emergency Medicine physicians.
Responsibilities- Completes comprehensive histories and physicals on all new admissions
- Diagnoses and treats acute and chronic illnesses
- Evaluates the need for consult services and submits prioritized consults when indicated
- Reviews all on-island/off-island specialty consult clinic and hospital returns
- Responds to emergencies and fire drills on a priority basis and in a timely and professional manner
- Be familiar with performance indicators (P.I.) and takes appropriate measures to comply with these standards
- Requests radiology exams, lab-tests, and EKGs when indicated and interprets these results in conjunction with the patient's clinical status
- Notifies Urgicare for 3 hour/EMS runs
- Generates medical modifications as needed
- Maintains clinical competency by reviewing CHS protocols, current medical literature, and C.M.E.s
- Provides clinical supervision for P.A.s/N.P.s, which includes co-signing of notes and medication orders
- Ensures that the standard of care is maintained
- Adheres to policies and procedures of CHS and is familiar with them by reviewing them as needed
- Attends all mandatory in-services
- Complies with and maintains Employee Health requirements
- Registered to practice medicine in the State of New York and have Federal DEA, BCLS or ACLS, and Infection Control Certification
- Medical Specialty License or Certification
- Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty
- 3 to 5 years of directly related experience, which include residency in a directly related medical specialty
