Overview

PAGNY is seeking a skilled Attending Physician to join our team at Rikers Island in East Elmhurst, NY. As a member of our Correctional Health Services team, you will provide primary care to patients in jail-based clinics, perform intake evaluations, and provide emergency care with the support of Emergency Medicine physicians.

Responsibilities
  • Complete comprehensive histories and physicals on all new admissions.
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Evaluate the need for consult services and submit prioritized consults when indicated.
  • Review all on-island/off-island specialty consult clinic and hospital returns.
  • Implement recommendations from consultants to ensure standard of care is met.
  • Respond to emergencies and fire drills in a timely and professional manner.
  • Be familiar with performance indicators (P.I.) and take appropriate measures to comply with these standards.
  • Request radiology exams, lab tests, and EKGs when indicated and interpret results in conjunction with patient's clinical status.
  • Notify Urgicare for 3-hour/EMS runs.
  • Generate medical modifications as needed.
  • Maintain clinical competency by reviewing CHS protocols, current medical literature, and C.M.E.s.
  • Provide clinical supervision for P.A.s/N.P.s, including co-signing of notes and medication orders.
  • Ensure standard of care is maintained.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of CHS and be familiar with them by reviewing as needed.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services.
  • Comply with and maintain Employee Health requirements.
Qualifications
  • Registered to practice medicine in the State of New York and have Federal DEA, BCLS or ACLS, and Infection Control Certification.
  • Medical Specialty License or Certification.
  • Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty.
  • 3 to 5 years of directly related experience, including residency in a directly related medical specialty.
  • Familiar with EHR.

Salary: $205,000 - $215,000 annually.
