We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at the Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) of New York City Health + Hospitals (H+H). As a key member of our medical team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive healthcare services to our patients.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive histories and physicals on new admissions, including completion of master problem lists and medication lists.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, and evaluate the need for consult services.
- Review and implement recommendations from specialty consult clinics and hospital reviews.
- Develop and implement plans for patient care using approved protocols and treatment plans.
- Respond to emergencies and fire drills in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform chart reviews and summaries, and update master problem lists and medication orders as needed.
- Request and interpret radiology exams, lab tests, and EKGs, and review results with supervising MDs.
- Notify staff MDs and Urgicare about emergency responses and EMS trips.
- Complete and submit encounter forms daily, and witness and sign patient healthcare refusals.
- Complete special housing rounds and review laboratory results, generating medical modifications and special needs tracking forms as needed.
- Maintain clinical competency by reviewing PHS protocols, current medical literature, and M.E.s.
- Ensure that all progress notes and orders are countersigned before the end of the shift.
- Bachelor's degree and NY State licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- 2+ years of work experience preferred.
