Job Title: Building Systems Technician

As a Building Systems Technician at Dallas County, you will be integral in ensuring the smooth operation of various building systems and equipment across multiple facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and servicing HVAC systems, building automation, plumbing, minor electrical work, and lighting installations
  • Providing technical support and guidance to the Facility Manager as necessary
  • Documenting and maintaining records related to equipment functionality, building automation systems, and repair activities
  • Educating operators on their roles and responsibilities
  • Reviewing equipment and tool reports
  • Collaborating with the Assistant Facility Manager, plumbers, electricians, and other staff
  • Conducting sampling and testing of boilers and cooling towers, along with report preparation
  • Leading projects and assignments when required
  • Executing additional tasks as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited high school education or GED
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience as per the Facilities hiring/promotion guidelines

Special Note:

One (1) year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one (1) year of formal training, or a combination of both.

Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

A valid Texas Driver's License is required, along with a clean driving record and successful completion of a security clearance. Flexibility to work rotating shifts and various days is necessary.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders and lift weights exceeding 50 lbs. with assistance
  • Capability to endure prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, lifting, and climbing
  • Willingness to work in diverse conditions and weather
  • Potential for changes in shift schedules and work locations
