Job Overview:

The Patient Access Registration Specialist PRN plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to patients and visitors at Intermountain Healthcare. This position is essential for ensuring a seamless registration and scheduling experience.

The specialist is tasked with gathering and entering accurate patient information into the system, confirming insurance details and eligibility, collecting co-pays and outstanding balances, and addressing any pending matters.

Adherence to Intermountain Healthcare's policies and compliance with federal and state regulations regarding patient confidentiality and privacy is paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and assist patients and visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Collect and verify patient demographic, financial, and insurance details.
  • Register and schedule patients for various appointments, tests, and procedures.
  • Process co-pays, deductibles, and any outstanding balances at the time of service.
  • Inform patients about financial assistance options, payment plans, and charity care.
  • Facilitate the signing of consent forms, policies, and disclosures.
  • Provide patients with directions, maps, and parking guidance.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
  • Maintain and update patient records in the electronic health system.
  • Follow up on pending issues such as prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.

Required Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in insurance verification and payment processing.
  • Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous experience in customer service, particularly in a healthcare environment, is essential. Proficiency in computer skills, including experience with Epic, is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to see and read information, labels, and monitors, as well as assess customer needs effectively. Frequent interaction with customers necessitates clear communication skills, both verbal and written.

Manual dexterity is required for operating complex equipment and performing tasks on computers and phones. The position may involve lifting and moving various items, including heavier objects.
