Position Title: Vehicle Preparation Specialist

Department: Sales Division

Reports To: Sales Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: The Vehicle Preparation Specialist is responsible for cleaning and detailing vehicles for the Sales Division, ensuring that the display lot and vehicles are consistently clean, organized, and visually appealing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Security: Assist in maintaining a safe operational environment by adhering to safety protocols, properly using chemicals and equipment, and securing vehicle keys.
  • Proactive Engagement: Upon completion of tasks, promptly report to the supervisor for reassignment of duties.
  • Vehicle Handling: Drive both automatic and manual vehicles to designated areas for washing and display, following supervisor instructions for road use.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Utilize power sprayers and cleaning solutions to wash vehicle exteriors thoroughly.
  • Surface Care: Apply approved cleaning agents to vehicle surfaces, ensuring protection and shine through appropriate techniques.
  • Interior Maintenance: Vacuum and clean the interior of vehicles, using designated cleaning products for optimal results.
  • Detailing Services: Perform specialized tasks such as headlamp restoration, interior shampooing, and painting non-body components to enhance vehicle aesthetics.
  • Engine Cleaning: Use steam-cleaning equipment and agents to clean engines and compartments, removing grease and grime effectively.
  • Completion Notification: Return completed vehicles to their respective areas and inform the supervisor of task completion.
  • Personal Cleanliness: Maintain a clean appearance to prevent soiling vehicles, avoiding food and drink in vehicles.
  • Vehicle Check-in: Receive vehicles from transport carriers and park them in designated staging areas, reporting any transportation issues immediately.
  • Inventory Maintenance: Regularly power wash the vehicle inventory displayed on the lot.
  • Equipment Readiness: Ensure wash areas and equipment are well-maintained and ready for use at all times.
  • Site Cleanliness: Manage trash cleanup around the premises, ensuring trash receptacles are secured.

Supervisory Duties:

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Licensing: A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
  • Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED; or six months to one year of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Capable of writing simple reports and communicating effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic arithmetic operations and able to apply these skills in practical situations.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to understand and follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Regularly standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks.
  • Occasionally lifting and moving items up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.

Work Environment:

Employees may encounter wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and exposure to various materials. The noise level is typically loud.
