Position Overview:

  • Educate patients on general health practices and self-care techniques.
  • Clarify and explain physician orders to patients or their guardians.
  • Provide instructions on the use of home medical equipment.
  • Administer first aid and assist with orthopedic devices.
  • Execute wound care, including dressing application and removal.
  • Perform various medical treatments such as catheterizations and suctioning.
  • Implement infection control protocols diligently.
  • Initiate emergency response procedures, including CPR, when necessary.
  • Monitor vital signs and observe for any abnormalities.
  • Prepare patients for medical procedures and assist during examinations.
  • Respond promptly to emergency codes and assist in patient transport.
  • Manage patient appointments and direct them to appropriate departments.
  • Gather patient information and assist with laboratory requisitions.
  • Ensure the availability and proper functioning of medical equipment.
  • Organize and maintain treatment areas and emergency supplies.
  • Support training for new staff and assist with administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
Experience:
  • At least six months of experience in an acute care setting or emergency department as an EMT or Paramedic.
Education:
  • N/A
Licenses and Certifications:
  • California Paramedic Certificate or Emergency Medical Technician Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computer systems is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with 12 lead EKGs.
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques.
  • Bilingual abilities are advantageous.

Notes:

  • This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekend shifts.
