Position Overview

The Osborne Association is dedicated to serving individuals, families, and communities impacted by the criminal justice system. Our mission is to provide pathways for healing, restoration, and growth, while advocating for justice and equity.

We are excited to announce the launch of our inaugural transitional housing and reentry initiative, The Fulton Community Reentry Center. This facility will offer 140 beds of transitional housing for men exiting correctional facilities who are at risk of homelessness. In addition to housing, we will provide comprehensive onsite reentry services, including case management, benefits enrollment, employment assistance, health services, and substance use disorder treatment. Our facility operates 24/7, including evenings and weekends, with some roles requiring flexible hours.

Role Summary: We are seeking a full-time CASAC Counselor to become an integral part of our Fulton Team. The Counselor will utilize evidence-based methodologies to assist participants in effectively navigating their recovery journeys. Our goal is to engage individuals involved with the criminal justice system in a recovery process that enhances their health, wellness, family connections, and community involvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide orientation to participants regarding available community outpatient substance use treatment programs, outlining objectives and offering continuous guidance.
  • Utilize Evidence-Based Practices, including Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to engage participants.
  • Deliver high-quality Telehealth and in-person individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Encourage active participation in programs, documenting progress and facilitating ongoing discussions about recovery goals.
  • Offer Person-Centered counseling through crisis intervention, individual sessions, group support, and case management, sharing insights and assessments with supervisors during regular meetings.
  • Assist participants in understanding the advantages of Medication Assisted Treatment and maintaining connections to care.
  • Recognize that recovery is a continuum, supporting participants at every stage, including harm reduction and relapse prevention.
  • Enhance participants' coping and problem-solving skills by exploring alternative solutions and improving decision-making abilities.
  • Educate participants about the impact of substance use through tailored educational interventions.
  • Maintain communication with external agencies to facilitate additional services for participants.
  • Report toxicology results to supervisors for clarity and guidance, ensuring proper handling and documentation of samples.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • OASAS certification as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) is mandatory.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in an OASAS Certified Substance Use Disorder Outpatient Treatment program.
  • Experience with DHS and EHR systems is preferred.

Essential Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of MAT and Harm Reduction principles.
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with the criminal justice system, including alternatives to incarceration and parole/probation processes.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is advantageous.
