We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at Jobot. As a key member of our preconstruction team, you will be responsible for providing detailed estimates for construction projects, assisting with bid communication, and collaborating with senior estimators to establish costs for materials, equipment, and labor.
Key Responsibilities- Support all aspects of subcontractor and supplier estimating and bidding processes.
- Draft, proof, review, and deliver private and public proposals.
- Consult with subcontractors and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effect cost reductions, and resolve issues.
- Research construction documents and analyze specifications to determine estimated costs.
- Work with operations teams, project managers, marketing, and administrative staff throughout the preconstruction process to review plans and specifications for constructability issues and determine general requirements on the project.
- Ensure company compliance with bidding regulations and goals of each project.
- Develop, prepare, coordinate, and execute presentations and proposals to existing or new clients.
- Work on multiple company bids simultaneously and deliver in accordance with deadline objectives.
- Operate and maintain proficiency in all internal estimating systems, technologies, and software.
- Minimize exposure and risk by implementing quality assurance controls in estimating. Promptly report changes and issues in scope and revenue to senior management.
- Identify, retrieve, comprehend, and administer RFQ and RFP solicitations.
- Ability to manage and track multiple projects at once.
- Ensure estimates comply with the requirements of the overall construction contract with the owner.
- Relate and transfer all relevant project information to project teams.
- Review subcontractor and supplier bids for conformity to contract requirements and determine acceptable bids.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Experience in estimating construction projects.
- Able to read, understand, and follow required construction documents.
- Proficient in construction estimating software (HCSS, HeavyBid, PlanSwift, BlueBeam, MS Excel, MS Word).
- Excellent written and verbal skills & strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Able to work with external clients using strong commercial awareness.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Strong leadership attributes.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, coworkers, and vendors.
- Familiarity with financial and project management principles.
- In-depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation metrics.
- Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- B.S. degree in Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management or equivalent field experience.
- Minimum of four (4) years construction experience with a minimum of two (2) years of estimating experience.
