Job Title: Dean of Libraries

The New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Dean of Libraries. This senior administrative position is a key member of the academic affairs team and reports directly to the Provost & Executive Vice President.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the libraries, aligning them with the institution's unique identity and goals.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive library strategic plan, integrating library resources into the curriculum and meeting the scholarly needs of students and faculty.
  • Collaborate with senior administration, faculty, and staff to set the strategic, operational, and financial direction for the libraries.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaborations and champion a future-facing library that serves as a vibrant intellectual hub.

Qualifications:

  • A history of leading with transparency and a shared-governance mindset and consensus-building.
  • Experience leading innovative efforts to integrate technology and information literacy to support teaching, life-long learning, and scholarship.
  • Record of accomplishment and administrative experience at a university of a similar size.
  • Management skills that include a demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with multiple constituencies within and outside of the university.

Education:

  • Master of Library Science, Master of Information Science, or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Doctorate relevant to leadership of a university library (e.g., Library Science, Information Science, Higher Education Leadership) preferred.
