Job Title: Director of Information Security

At Boys and Girls Country of Houston, we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our children and staff. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Information Security to lead our organization's information security program.

Job Summary:

The Director of Information Security will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive information security program that protects our organization's assets, data, and systems from cyber threats. This includes establishing and maintaining security policies, procedures, and standards, as well as providing guidance and support to staff on information security best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive information security program that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our organization's assets, data, and systems.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on information security best practices, including training and awareness programs.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential security threats and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure that security controls are integrated into all aspects of our organization's operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, such as security vendors and industry associations, to stay up-to-date on the latest security threats and best practices.
  • Manage and oversee the implementation of security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures to ensure that our organization is prepared to respond to security incidents.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest security threats and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve our organization's security posture.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on enterprise-level security programs.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role, with a focus on managing information security teams.
  • 2+ years of experience in GRC and data privacy regulations.
  • Hands-on experience leading one or more of the following functions: GLBA/privacy, third-party risk management, cyber resilience planning/response, strategy/board reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in cloud and mobile technologies, including multi-tenancy data storage preferably with AWS infrastructures.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining common security frameworks (SOC2, ISO27001, NIST).
  • Broad, current knowledge of regulatory and voluntary standards-based compliance related to cloud and mobile applications and data confidentiality (e.g. CCPA, GDPR, PCI, SOC2, ISO).
  • Experience with software-as-a-service companies and securing cloud architectures.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written deliverables, oral presentations, and the ability to facilitate crucial conversations at all levels of the organization.
  • Track record of leading enterprise projects and cross-functional initiatives to success, on time, and within budget.
