POSITION OVERVIEW

The role involves providing essential receptionist, clerical, and telephone services at the main switchboard/information center located in the Alumni Campus Center (ACC).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Offer directions and information to visitors at the information desk or those calling the main college number.
  • Respond appropriately to weather-related alerts while monitoring the storm radio.
  • Route incoming calls to the relevant college offices and student accommodations.
  • Oversee the College 911 telephone system.
  • Notify on-call Physical Plant staff regarding maintenance issues, including alarms from the fire alarm board.
  • Contact telephone repair services as needed.
  • Receive and notify faculty, staff, and students of deliveries, and contact emergency personnel when personal injuries are reported.
  • Take messages for individuals attending meetings in the ACC.
  • Welcome visitors to the Alumni Campus Center and guide them to various campus locations.
  • Provide directory assistance to callers and visitors, while monitoring the computerized access control system for campus buildings and alerting security officers of any violations.
  • Maintain and update data for the access control system and the Security reporting system.
  • Act as a communication link for Security, Health Center, Student Life, and Physical Plant using a two-way radio system, and perform administrative tasks for Campus Safety and Security.
  • Uphold the mission and vision of the College while respecting its Catholic tradition.
  • Carry out related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required. A minimum of two years of relevant clerical experience involving public interaction is preferred.

Technical Skills

Proficient in using personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite, with strong keyboarding skills.

Certifications

Must obtain certification in CPR and AED.

Additional Requirements

Familiarity with college information center equipment, personnel, activities, and events is essential. Excellent communication and public relations skills, along with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, are required. Attention to detail and a willingness to assist others are crucial.
