Job Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment within the facility by following routine cleaning procedures. This includes surface cleaning, floor care, carpet cleaning, and moving equipment and furniture.
Responsibilities:- Maintain a clean and safe environment within the facility by following routine cleaning procedures.
- Perform surface cleaning, floor care, carpet cleaning, and moving equipment and furniture.
- Replenish supplies of soap, tissues, towels, disposable items, and other items as needed.
- Report the need for repair of equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures to the appropriate person.
- Perform a thorough deep cleaning of assigned areas on an annual basis.
- Must be efficient and effective in the use of cleaning products and equipment.
- Take an active role in improving the quality of service provided by our department.
- Actively participate in department meetings, committees, conferences, and in-services.
- Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in improving patient safety and reducing risk to patients.
- Complies with Safety and Infection Control & Procedure.
- Must adhere to JCAHO standards.
- Understands and observes all safety rules.
- Reports all accidents or incidents.
- Corrects or reports all safety hazards seen.
- Knowledge of Safety Plan.
- Previous janitorial and cleaning experience preferred.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
- Maintains a professional, collaborative work environment so as to foster a positive public image for MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center.
- Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, and medical information.
- Must be able to work with and accept varying demands of the patient, public, and other employees.
- Able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team.
- Must be able to become familiar with the use and care of housekeeping chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to work harmoniously with other departments.
- Exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with patients and public.
- Deals with hospital and public contacts in a cordial, courteous, and helpful manner.
- Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to patients, physicians, employees, and MercyOne business.
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Possess a knowledge of all chemicals used in routine cleaning and is trained on how to access SDS information and read SDS sheets.
- Must have a good understanding of the Universal Precautions and PPE available to the provision of a clean and safe environment.
- Maintain appropriate personal appearance.
