Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Barista Cafe Attendant to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Barista Cafe Attendant, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and expertly crafting beverages and food products in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet store operating policies and standards, including providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling, and store safety and security.
  • Efficiently and accurately operate the register system, including proper labeling of all Starbucks drink and food items, and reporting over/under deposits within department compliance guidelines.
  • Review the menu, pricing, and register screen prior to starting shift, and maintain a clean and well-stocked work area throughout the shift.
  • Prepare food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers, following the Starbucks Barista Basics training guide.
  • Engage with and understand our customers, responding to their needs through clear and pleasant communication.
  • Ensure items are stored according to FDA Food Code, and work with delivery vendors to unload, inspect, and properly store food items.
  • Follow training and safety procedures when operating equipment, and inventory assigned areas, following Starbucks Par Builder Par Sheets.
  • Available to perform different shift locations throughout the store, including support, cold bar, espresso bar, register, beverage sequencing, and customer support.
Requirements
  • Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from Monongalia County Health Department (MCHD) prior to starting, or obtain MCHD Temporary FSWP no later than the first Wednesday of employment.
  • Starbucks Barista Basics certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to stand throughout the working day, and lift, carry, and push/pull items of up to 50 lbs.
Working Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with the ability to work in a noisy setting and under deadline pressures. The work area may be hot, cold, and/or wet.
