Position Overview:

The role involves delivering comprehensive patient care under the guidance and oversight of a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional requirements.
  • Administer routine treatments while ensuring a safe, clean, and organized patient environment.
  • Uphold the safety and security of patients, families, oneself, and fellow healthcare professionals.
  • Guarantee patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Adhere to standard precautions, including regular handwashing between patient interactions.
  • Support the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
  • Measure and document vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rates, along with food and fluid intake and output as instructed.
  • Collect data and accurately record relevant patient information in accordance with Orlando Health's policies and guidelines.
  • Identify and relay pertinent information and safety concerns regarding patients' conditions to the RN or other healthcare team members.
  • Engage in handoff reports and conduct purposeful hourly rounds of patients.
  • Deliver exceptional service and care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.
  • Exhibit proficiency in specific tasks and skills as defined by Orlando Health and unit-specific competencies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe nursing unit.
  • Handle incoming phone calls, patient call lights, and guest requests efficiently.
  • Transport and deliver items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
  • May have limited access to areas storing medications.
  • Demonstrate regular, punctual attendance in line with Orlando Health policies and relevant standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Actively support and engage in planned changes within the organization.
  • Participate in nursing Performance Improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintain awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards.
  • Utilize time and resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Attend hospital and unit staff meetings and in-services as per policy.
  • Complete all mandatory training requirements.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on developmental principles across the lifespan.
  • Possess the ability to assess data reflective of patients' statuses and interpret the necessary information to identify each patient's age-specific needs.

Qualifications:

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification:
Must obtain BLS/Healthcare Provider certification within 30 days of hire.

Experience:
No prior experience required.
