Senior Audio-Visual Systems Technician

The role of the Senior Audio-Visual Systems Technician encompasses the mechanical assembly, wiring, installation, and testing of audio-visual systems within M.C. Dean's Pre-Installation, Test and Check Out Facilities (PITCO) as well as in client locations. This position also involves the installation of fiber optic cabling (fiber certifications are advantageous), network cabling, cable management, interpreting and annotating wiring documentation, and providing operational training to client personnel. Technicians are expected to troubleshoot and repair systems during both installation and ongoing support throughout the lifecycle of the systems.

Technicians will receive training to become master operators of audio-visual systems and serve as key support personnel for high-profile commercial and government facilities, leveraging the expertise gained at M.C. Dean.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a valid passport.
  • Maintain an active Top Secret Clearance.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of audio-visual systems.
  • Hold a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Be prepared for ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle, with an acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy.
  • Undergo a government security investigation and meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information.
  • Be willing to travel, including OCONUS, for extended periods as necessary.
Essential Skills:
  • Mechanical installation, wire pulling, soldering, terminal crimping, labeling, and installing fiber optic cable (fiber certifications are desirable).
  • Cable management, rack assembly, and the ability to read and annotate wiring documentation.
  • Timely completion of timesheets by job.
  • Maintain a good driving record and appropriate clearance.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and professionalism when interacting with clients.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills in managing tools, work sites, time, work assignments, and documentation.
Knowledge Requirements:
  • Fundamentals of television, computer video, Windows computer environment, RS-232, infrastructure wiring standards, audio wiring standards, fiber optics, grounding and shielding, acoustics, projection optics, lighting principles, ohm's law, and high voltage electrical wiring safety.
  • Construction site safety protocols.
Desired Experience and Certifications:
  1. Vendor certifications.
  2. Eight (8) years of experience in electronics installation and/or maintenance across multiple systems and customer programs.
  3. Understanding of electronic circuit testing procedures and testing devices.
  4. Experience with Volt/AMP meters and related equipment.
  5. CTS from InfoComm and CFOS Certification from an FOA Approved School are desirable.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Ability to lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for extended periods.
  2. Capable of relocating a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  3. Work at various heights up to 60 feet and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
  4. Engage in routine physical activities such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  5. Possess good vision (correctable) and the ability to hear and communicate effectively in English.
  6. Ability to recognize potential issues and apply general rules to specific problems.
  7. Combine information to form general conclusions.
  8. Pay attention to details at close range.
  9. Listen and comprehend information presented verbally.
