Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Student Development Coordinator Senior to join our team at Northern Arizona University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic support and guidance to students, as well as overseeing the daily operations of the First-Generation Programs TRIO Student Support Services program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct services to SSS participants, including academic advising, career counseling, and personal support.
  • Assess participants' wellness and promote student growth by determining suitable developmental tasks.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director to ensure meaningful and purposeful experiences for program participants.
  • Develop and implement strategies for student retention and success.
  • Supervise student employees and provide training on advising policies and techniques.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in teaching and/or advisement.
  • Ability to work with students of diverse cultural backgrounds, age groups, and abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with first-generation, low-income, students with disabilities, or historically underrepresented students.
  • Previous experience with providing individual counseling, academic advising, mentoring, and/or coaching of college students.
