About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our Acoustics Division at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects that address the physics of acoustic signal generation, propagation, scatter, and detection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and evaluate chemical systems for hydrogenation of CO2 to syngas
  • Develop stable catalyst materials capable of catalyzing CO2 derived intermediates to aromatics products
  • Perform catalyst synthesis, analytical characterization of catalyst, and catalyst efficiency
  • Direct air capture of CO2
  • Direct ocean capture of CO2
  • Computational modeling of catalyst environments to elucidate mechanistic pathways and guide experimental design
  • Experience in engineering design, fabrication, and evaluation of systems and utilization of CAD programs
  • Experience with scaling, integration, and automation of complex system components
Requirements
  • PhD in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, biomechanical engineering, or material science
  • 5-10 years of experience in research and development
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance
