Job Summary

The City of Austin is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Attorney to join our Law Department. As an Assistant City Attorney, you will play a critical role in providing quality legal services to the City and its citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and representation to the Mayor, City Council, City Officers, and City departments.
  • Prosecute Class C misdemeanors in the City of Austin Municipal Court.
  • Conduct pre-trial motion hearings, bench trials, and jury trials.
  • Work closely with City departments to ensure compliance with state laws and city ordinances.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an American Bar Association accredited school of law.
  • Current active membership in good standing of the State Bar of Texas.
  • Three (3) full years of active practice as a licensed attorney.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in municipal law and prosecution.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
