About the Role

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a highly skilled Landscape Architect I or II to join our team. As a key member of our Park Development Division, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and developing parks, recreational areas, and green spaces that promote quality recreational, cultural, and outdoor experiences for the Austin community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and perform landscape architectural activities, including planning, designing, and developing parks, recreational areas, and green spaces.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders to engage and inform design decisions.
  • Navigate complex local, state, and federal regulatory permitting processes, as well as design and construction contracting.
  • Oversee construction of park improvements and observe park construction activities.
Requirements
  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Landscape Architecture.
  • Three to five years of landscape architecture experience, with two years of lead or supervisory experience for Landscape Architect II.
  • Registered Landscape Architect by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in developing and implementing park vision plans.
  • Experience managing public sector projects, including writing scopes of work, preparing contracts, and dealing with municipal permitting processes.
  • Proficiency with design software, including AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
