**Cyber Security Operations Officer (CSOO) Job Opportunity**

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Cyber Security Operations Officer (CSOO) plays a critical role in safeguarding information systems and networks. This position is integral to the operational framework of the Cyber Defense and Network Assurance team, focusing on the management and response to cyber incidents, threat analysis, and network security measures. The CSOO will engage in the evaluation of security events, incident response, and the dissemination of vulnerability information, ensuring adherence to established cybersecurity protocols.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Cyber Defense team to address security challenges, providing insights on Indicators of Compromise (IOC) and overall network security posture.
  • Oversee the technical delivery of information security services, enhancing customer support initiatives through the management of knowledge sharing tools.
  • Analyze operational reports from cybersecurity entities and prepare comprehensive situational awareness briefings for stakeholders.
  • Document and report on cyber incidents, including network intrusions and malware threats, ensuring effective communication of findings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant directives and alerts, delivering operational updates to leadership.
  • Supervise network defense operations, coordinating with various teams to address malicious cyber activities.
  • Assess technical information to identify issues, providing actionable recommendations to support decision-making processes.
  • Ensure compliance with incident handling procedures as outlined by cybersecurity regulations and directives.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Defensive Cybersecurity during operational hours, demonstrating independent judgment in security matters.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Must possess a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., Security+ CE) and achieve CSSP-A certification within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience in Computer Incident Response, with a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of network threat life cycles, attack vectors, and intelligence-driven defense strategies.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Experience in a continuous operations environment, including mentoring junior staff.
  • Proficient in recognizing situational awareness indicators and assessing their impact on operations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in Military IT or Intelligence Community roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Department of Defense networks.
  • Willingness to work varied shifts as required.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and composure under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical information clearly.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity threats and tactics.
