Position Overview

As a significant contributor to Labcorp, one of the foremost drug development service providers globally, you will engage in transformative projects that impact the industry. We are seeking a Lead Clinical Veterinarian to enhance our team in Greenfield, IN. This role involves delivering veterinary healthcare for laboratory animals, advising on their care, and training technical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive medical and surgical care for laboratory animals, ensuring humane treatment at a senior level.
  • Support the site lead veterinarian in upholding company policies and compliance with animal welfare regulations.
  • Facilitate training for staff on veterinary procedures and animal welfare standards.
  • Assist with regulatory duties related to animal welfare compliance.
  • Participate in the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or Ethical Review Panel (ERP) as required.
  • Conduct physical and specialized examinations of laboratory animals as per established protocols.
  • Provide scientific insights on animal health and research methodologies to staff scientists and technicians.
  • Engage in scientific meetings and contribute to the field of Laboratory Animal Medicine through publications and presentations.
  • Address animal care concerns and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Offer expert advice in specialized areas such as anesthesia or ocular health.
  • Lead and execute team projects as assigned.
  • Mentor junior veterinarians and technicians.

Qualifications:

Applicants should be graduates of an AVMA accredited veterinary program or possess equivalent training, with 4-5 years of experience in laboratory animal medicine. A veterinary license in at least one state is required, along with the ability to obtain necessary licenses and USDA accreditation within six months. Board certification or eligibility for certification in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine is preferred. Candidates should have knowledge of both small and large research animals, with experience in surgical models and complex anesthesia protocols being advantageous.
