Position Overview

As a Senior Clinical Veterinarian at Labcorp, you will engage in innovative projects that significantly influence the industry. This role provides a unique opportunity to advance your career while positively impacting public health.

The incumbent will be responsible for delivering veterinary care for laboratory animals, advising on their maintenance, and training technical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive medical and surgical care for laboratory animals, ensuring humane treatment at a senior level.
  • Support the site lead veterinarian in maintaining compliance with animal care policies and regulations.
  • Train staff on veterinary procedures and animal welfare practices.
  • Assist with regulatory and administrative duties related to animal welfare compliance.
  • Participate in the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or Ethical Review Panel (ERP) as necessary.
  • Conduct physical and specialized examinations of laboratory animals as required.
  • Provide scientific insights on animal health and research methodologies to colleagues.
  • Engage in scientific meetings and contribute to the field through publications and presentations.
  • Address animal care concerns and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Offer expertise in specific areas such as anesthesia or ocular health.
  • Lead and complete assigned team projects.
  • Mentor junior veterinarians and technicians.

Qualifications:

Applicants should be graduates of an AVMA accredited veterinary program or possess equivalent training, with 4-5 years of experience in laboratory animal medicine. A veterinary license in at least one state is required, along with the ability to obtain necessary accreditations. Board certification or eligibility for certification in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine is preferred. Knowledge of both small and large research animals is essential, as is experience with surgical models and anesthesia protocols. Candidates must be comfortable working in a laboratory environment with laboratory animals.
