Role Summary

We are seeking a meticulous Staff Accountant to contribute to our accounting department, which plays a pivotal role in supporting all aspects of Red Cedar Homes' integrated real estate development operations. The Staff Accountant will engage in essential accounting functions and gain comprehensive exposure to various business areas, including real estate development, construction, partnership accounting, and financial reporting. This role is crucial for managing real estate transactions, overseeing debt management, conducting bank reconciliations, and preparing financial reports, among other responsibilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Review key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial statements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in the month-end closing procedures.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance protocols.
  • Propose enhancements for process efficiencies and automation opportunities.
  • Prepare journal entries, including HUD entries for diverse real estate transactions.
  • Compile various schedules as requested by management.
  • Generate planned and ad-hoc financial reports.
  • Lead efforts in tracking and maintaining debt management.
  • Support the planning and execution of special projects slated for upcoming years.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in recording accounting entries and preparing journal entries.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Robust analytical skills.

Work Schedule

  • Standard daytime hours, Monday through Friday; occasional weekend work may be necessary.

Employment Type

  • Full-time position, averaging 40 hours per week.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $65,000-$75,000 annually.
