Position Overview

The Associate Manager for Sourcing Strategies plays a pivotal role in representing Exact Sciences across Operations, R&D, and Clinical Labs while engaging with external vendors and strategic partners. This position serves as a key liaison for corporate supplier relationships, acting as a secondary escalation point for suppliers seeking to collaborate with Exact Sciences. The individual in this role is expected to work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure the effective execution of essential contractual documentation.

The Associate Manager will conduct thorough market research on suppliers, assess supplier performance, and proactively engage with vendors in collaboration with various teams. The scope of work will be diverse, requiring interaction with a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders and executives. Key responsibilities include supplier onboarding, managing sourcing events, conducting supplier due diligence, and drafting contracts. A background in sourcing, procurement, or a specific category expertise is essential for success in this role.

Essential Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing RFx information, engaging suppliers, and initiating contracts.
  • Conducting data analysis, gathering market intelligence, and negotiating contracts with suppliers.
  • Representing Exact Sciences in supplier interactions, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Monitoring performance against category budgets.
  • Determining optimal supply sources through competitive analysis of current suppliers.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to execute requests for proposals (RFx).
  • Presenting RFx data insights to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Communicating effectively with personnel at all levels, including business owners and leaders.
  • Advising Supplier Relationship Managers on supplier strategies prior to engagement.
  • Participating in contract negotiations to establish supplier expectations.
  • Acting as an escalation point for Procurement and Supplier Management regarding contracts.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Ensuring adherence to sourcing standards across the organization through education and training.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously with shifting priorities.
  • Exhibiting teamwork and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Making informed decisions with limited information and working autonomously.
  • Demonstrating analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills by effectively organizing and presenting complex issues.

  • Maintaining regular and reliable attendance.

  • Occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds as part of job duties.
  • Utilizing mobile devices, tablets, or computers for approximately 90% of the workday.
  • Adhering to personal protective equipment requirements as applicable.
  • Traveling between local Exact Sciences locations as needed.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of working time, which may include overnight or weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in Sourcing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Life Sciences, or a related area.
  • Familiarity with GMP facilities, equipment, and processes.
  • Understanding of negotiation principles, including contractual terms and risk management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the industry.
  • 1+ years of experience in sourcing operations (RFx, analyses, etc.).
  • Experience with SAP and Coupa software.
  • Familiarity with regulated systems (ISO 13485/15189, CAP/CLIA).
  • Experience with international supply chains and customers.

Salary Range:

$67,000 - $109,000. This position is eligible for bonuses and company stock upon hire and annually.
