We are seeking an experienced Pastry Sous Chef to join our team at Flagship Facility Services, Inc. in a high-volume from-scratch bakery operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily and weekly pastry/dessert production
- Supervise a small team of pastry chefs
- Develop and research international pastry recipes/menus
- Ensure station setup and food preparation adhere to kitchen guidelines
- Prepare food items consistently by adhering to recipe standards
- Maintain a safe working environment by following food handling skills and proper food safety guidelines
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Culinary/Baking Degree or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years' experience in a high-volume from-scratch bakery or operation
Work Environment:
The Pastry Sous Chef will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with moderate to high noise levels, exposure to soap and cleaning solutions, and slippery/uneven surfaces.
Physical Demands:
- Some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and possible moving of equipment required
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision
- Repetitive hand motion carrying food containers, using carts both loaded and unloaded
- Standing, walking, bending/twisting, and balance are all required to perform job tasks
