Pastry Cook Job Description

At Burma Food Group, we're on a mission to bridge cultures through food. We're looking for a skilled Pastry Cook to join our team and help us create delicious desserts that bring people together.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our executive chef and sous chef to develop and execute all dessert offerings.
  • Operate and manage the pastry section of the kitchen, ensuring a smooth and efficient working environment.
  • Prepare ingredients and handle baking and other kitchen equipment with precision and care.
  • Create pastries, baked goods, and confections that exceed our customers' expectations.
  • Decorate pastries and desserts to ensure a beautiful and tasteful presentation.
  • Monitor the stock of baking ingredients and ensure our kitchen adheres to safety and health regulations.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in fine dining or casual dining in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of food and cooking techniques, including pastry production, portioning, and plating.
  • Culinary degree in pastry strongly preferred.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, with the ability to move and lift at least 40 pounds at a time.
  • Excellent verbal communication and positive interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a multicultural and diverse team.
  • Able to acquire a California Food Handler's License (before or within 2 weeks of hiring).
  • Bilingual is a plus.
