Position Overview:
This role is pivotal in delivering legal expertise concerning the Company's workforce associated with unions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offering legal guidance to Motion Picture, Finance, Studio Groups, and productions regarding collective bargaining agreements with unions and guilds.
  • Providing labor and employment legal advice to Motion Picture and Studio Groups concerning production and Backlot personnel.
  • Fostering and maintaining relationships within the industry.
  • Assisting in the preparation for negotiations of industrywide collective bargaining agreements, which includes gathering data from various Studio Groups, analyzing payroll information, and formulating responses to requests for information.
  • Participating in negotiations of industrywide collective bargaining agreements, representing Paramount's interests during discussions.
  • Facilitating the negotiation of production-specific collective bargaining agreements.
  • Managing labor grievances, which involves factual investigations, assessing contractual positions and financial implications, negotiating settlements, and drafting settlement agreements.
  • Overseeing external legal counsel handling arbitration cases not resolved through the grievance process.
  • Conducting investigations related to claims of harassment, bullying, and retaliation, and recommending disciplinary actions for Backlot personnel.
  • Assisting in the investigation and resolution of audit claims from various pension and health plans.
  • Defending against NLRB, EEO, and wage and hour cases when necessary.
  • Serving on various industry committees and/or as a trustee on guild and union pension and health plans when requested.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law institution.
  • Admission to the bar is required.
  • Outstanding academic credentials.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in bargaining agreements and union/management relations.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Preferred experience in the labor and employment sector of the entertainment industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment regulations (EEO, FLSA, etc.).
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and analytical capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including the use of formulas, functions, tables, ranges, and pivot tables for payroll data analysis.
  • Able to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Comfortable with open communication and managing difficult discussions.
  • Experience interacting with all levels of staff and management, including senior executives and industry peers.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and curious.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Capable of multitasking and prioritizing competing deadlines.
  • Experience in negotiation and litigation.
