Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student employee to assist in the culinary arts program at Joliet Junior College. As a Dining Room Server and Kitchen Helper, you will play a vital role in supporting the culinary team and providing exceptional service to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of food in the culinary lab and kitchen.
  • Help with daily cleaning and maintenance of kitchen labs.
  • Work with vocational training program special needs students (VSFS) as needed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the culinary arts instructor.
Requirements:
  • Must be enrolled in the culinary arts program at Joliet Junior College in good standing (2.0 GPA minimum).
  • Must carry a minimum of 6 credit hours at JJC.
  • Must have a sanitation license.
  • Must have good knife skills.
  • Must be willing to take instruction and work well with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
  • Knowledge of kitchen surroundings and equipment.
  • Effective working relationships with other members of the college and community.
Working Conditions:

This is a part-time student employee position that works around your class schedule. You may work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, and up to 28 hours per week during summer and holiday breaks with supervisor approval.
