Job Summary

The Litigation Counsel will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing litigation brought by and against CareFirst, Inc., its subsidiaries, and affiliates. This includes effectively resolving disputes prior to litigation, directly providing representation for the Company in federal, state, and alternative venues, and overseeing the implementation of effective litigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and analyze litigation brought by and against the Company
  • Effectively resolve disputes prior to litigation
  • Directly provide representation for the Company in federal, state, and alternative venues
  • Oversee the implementation of effective litigation strategies
  • Manage internal and external discovery and effectively use and promote litigation technology and technical capabilities

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor Required
  • Admission to the MD or DC bar is required upon hire
  • At least 5 years of litigation experience, including trials and/or administrative tribunals

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 6-8 years of significant litigation experience with at least 3 years' experience with litigation issues related to insurance and coverage matters, ERISA, health care, and managed care matters, and managing class action and complex litigation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions, be flexible/versatile, and work independently

Salary Range

$179,200 - $320,320
