Key Responsibilities
  • Provide knowledge and competence in radiologic technology, imaging, devices, and scrub assistance for pediatric interventional procedures.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic or therapeutic imaging procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
  • Function as an informational resource to others regarding equipment and procedures, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Operate fixed and mobile angiographic equipment, including x-ray system controls, diagnostic and digital image archival, and power injectors.
  • Perform quality control procedures on equipment and initiate repair as necessary to maintain safe usage.
  • Provide scrub assistance during procedures and aid during intervention cases, demonstrating a commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Set modality parameters on fixed and mobile angiography equipment and enter data such as patient demographics in imaging equipment.
  • Correctly archive images in Cardiac PACS and Radiology PACS, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Develop and maintain a general understanding of imaging techniques, protocols, and equipment functions, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field.
  • Operate and troubleshoot ancillary equipment, demonstrating a strong understanding of needed supplies, measurement, and archival.
  • Provide intermediate understanding on ancillary and Cath Angio equipment used in services, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Perform routine cleaning of procedural areas and equipment, maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
  • Utilize time efficiently, prioritize work, and ask for reassignment when free, demonstrating a commitment to productivity and teamwork.
  • Stock assigned rooms with appropriate supplies needed for procedures, ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow.
  • Provide intermediate knowledge on service-specific supplies, sterile technique, and precepting in services that have been signed off.
  • Verify and complete all documentation, including EPIC and Inventory systems, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiological Technology school, with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum one to three years of Specialty (IR, Cath, or EP experience) in a pediatric interventional setting.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, with ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification within six months of hire.
  • RTF (California State Fluoroscopic Permit) certification, with new hires required to obtain certification within three months of hiring date.
  • CRT (Certified by the State of California Department of Health Services in Diagnostic) Radiology certification.
  • ARRT RTR (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification Reg. Tech-Radiography) certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Intermediate understanding of principles of radiation in relation to imaging techniques.
  • Intermediate understanding of most supplies for procedures trained in and proper usage.
  • Intermediate understanding of the safety requirements of basic procedures and learning the safety requirements of more complex procedures.
  • Intermediate understanding of the anatomy and physiology in relation to the procedures performed.
  • Intermediate understanding of procedure indications, disease processes involved, and treatment options.
  • Demonstrate intermediate communications skills, explaining basic procedures to the appropriate audience.
  • Ability to assess the specific age needs of patients and confirm procedure assessment with more experienced Tech.
  • Ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships with colleagues and patients, exemplifying the principles of PCARES.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Sectra PACS, Merge-Cardiovascular PACS, Epic, ARC Helios Supply System, and iRcoder.
