POSITION SUMMARY:

As a key member of the healthcare team, the Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive medical services under the guidance of a supervising physician. The responsibilities encompass a wide range of patient care activities, including diagnostic assessments, therapeutic interventions, surgical support, and medication management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Managing an independent clinic effectively.
  • Enhancing patient health outcomes by providing medical services in collaboration with a physician.
  • Identifying and addressing both immediate and long-term patient care challenges to support physician efficiency.
  • Offering recommendations and treatment options tailored to patient needs.
  • Executing directives as outlined by the supervising physician.
  • Conducting thorough patient assessments through interviews and physical examinations, including the collection and review of medical histories.
  • Diagnosing medical conditions by performing or ordering necessary diagnostic tests, such as imaging and laboratory analyses, and interpreting the results.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of patient care in both patient and departmental records.
  • Administering therapeutic procedures, including injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
  • Providing patient education and counseling on health maintenance and emotional well-being.
  • Facilitating a continuum of care by developing and implementing comprehensive patient management plans.
  • Ensuring a safe and hygienic work environment by adhering to established protocols and regulations.
  • Protecting the health and safety of patients and staff by following infection control policies and legal requirements.
  • Staying current with professional knowledge through workshops, literature, networking, and participation in relevant organizations.
  • Contributing to the development of healthcare team members by providing educational resources and growth opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSE:

Must possess a valid Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license to practice in the State of Florida. Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications may be required in specific areas. For Nurse Practitioners, certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) is mandatory, while Physician Assistants must hold NCCPA certification.

EDUCATION:

For Physician Assistants:
Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited program is required. NCCPA certification is necessary, and candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Florida.

For Nurse Practitioners:
A Master's degree in Nursing is required (not mandatory for those licensed before 1998 in Florida). Candidates must hold a current Florida Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) license or be eligible for licensure, with specialty certification from ANCC or AANP.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of one year of experience as a Physician Assistant or APRN is preferred but not required.

SKILLS:

• Familiarity with medical protocols and procedures related to examination, treatment, and recovery.

• Awareness of advancements in medical technology and current practices.
