POSITION SUMMARY:

As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive medical services under the guidance of a supervising physician. The responsibilities encompass a wide range of clinical tasks, including diagnostic assessments, therapeutic interventions, surgical support, and medication management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Managing an independent clinic to enhance patient care.
  • Supporting patient wellness by delivering medical services under physician oversight.
  • Identifying both immediate and long-term patient care needs to improve efficiency.
  • Advising on treatment options and care pathways for patients.
  • Executing directives provided by the supervising physician.
  • Evaluating patient health through interviews and physical examinations, including the collection and analysis of medical histories.
  • Identifying abnormal health conditions through diagnostic testing, such as imaging and laboratory analyses, and interpreting the results.
  • Documenting patient interactions and care in medical records.
  • Administering therapeutic procedures, including injections, immunizations, and wound care.
  • Providing education and counseling to patients regarding health maintenance and emotional well-being.
  • Creating and implementing comprehensive patient management plans.
  • Ensuring a safe and hygienic work environment by adhering to established protocols.
  • Protecting the health of patients and staff by following infection control policies.
  • Staying informed on legal and professional standards by reviewing relevant legislation and advising management on compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

LICENSE:

Valid Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the State of Florida. BLS and/or ACLS certification may be required based on specific departmental needs. Nurse Practitioners must have certification from ANCC or AANP, while Physician Assistants must hold NCCPA certification.

EDUCATION:

For Physician Assistants:
Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited program is mandatory. NCCPA certification is required, along with licensure to practice as a PA in Florida.

For Nurse Practitioners:
A Master's degree in Nursing is required. If licensed prior to 1998, a Master's degree is not mandatory in Florida. A current Florida ARNP license or eligibility for licensure is essential, along with ANCC or AANP certification in a specialty area.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of one year of experience as a PA or APRN is preferred but not essential.

SKILLS:

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.

• Proven experience as a physician assistant or nurse.

• Familiarity with medical protocols and procedures related to examination, treatment, and recovery.

• Awareness of advancements in medical technology and practices.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and multitasking skills.
