This role is a full-time hourly position as a Unit Secretary within a skilled nursing environment, specifically for the day shift. The working hours will be determined by the needs of the nursing unit, typically ranging from 7am to 5pm.

Qualifications: Prior experience as a medical unit secretary is essential. A foundational understanding of medical terminology is preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medical Records Management: Ensure accuracy and integrity of medical records by reviewing all information before filing. Conduct audits to verify completeness and compliance.
  • Clerical Support: Handle clerical tasks related to admissions, transfers, and discharges, including scanning and organizing documentation in both electronic and hardcopy formats.
  • Physician Coordination: Schedule and coordinate physician visits, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and filed correctly.
  • Appointment Scheduling: Manage resident appointments and transportation logistics, ensuring timely completion of necessary paperwork.
  • Supply Management: Oversee inventory control of unit supplies, ensuring appropriate stock levels and timely reordering.
  • Office Administration: Direct incoming calls, take messages, and maintain organization within the nursing station.

Essential Skills:

  • High School diploma required; Associate Degree or higher preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with diverse populations.

Physical Requirements: The role involves sitting, standing, bending, and lifting throughout the workday. Candidates must be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds and assist in resident evacuations as necessary.
