Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Seafood Team Lead to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our seafood department, you will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team, driving sales growth, and ensuring exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of seafood associates, providing coaching, training, and feedback to ensure excellent customer service and sales results.
  • Develop and maintain a visually appealing and well-merchandised seafood department, including creating displays and promotions that drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Work closely with the team leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, analyzing sales data and making recommendations to improve department performance.
  • Assist with ordering and inventory management, ensuring accurate inventory levels and minimizing waste.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding promptly to customer needs and questions, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, providing clear instructions and feedback, and fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • Stay up-to-date on seafood products, trends, and regulations, making recommendations to improve department offerings and operations.
Requirements
  • 18+ months retail team member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience
  • High energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy
  • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills
  • Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner
  • Thorough product knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate
  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
