Responsibilities:

Dock Operations:

  • Efficiently manage the loading and unloading of cargo on trailers utilizing motorized equipment, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Navigate the service center's challenging surfaces while transporting freight and equipment.
  • Employ the Dock Yard Management System to accurately track freight shipment locations.
  • Interpret shipping labels and complete necessary documentation related to freight movement.
  • Perform hand loading, rewrapping, or stacking of freight as required.
  • Ensure the secure and quality loading of all trailers.
  • Utilize appropriate tools and supplies to secure freight within trailers.
  • Maintain frequent communication with service center staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

Driver Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations regarding driving practices, maintenance, and hazardous materials transportation.
  • Meet medical standards set by the U.S. Department of Transportation and pass required drug and alcohol tests.
  • Load and unload freight using various techniques while adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Continuously transport freight within the service center, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Utilize the Dock Yard Management System for effective monitoring of freight locations.
  • Read and understand shipping labels and related freight documentation.
  • Perform necessary freight handling tasks, including hand loading and securing cargo.
  • Engage with service center personnel regularly, maintaining a focus on deadlines.
  • Operate internal freight monitoring systems as required.
  • Be available for flexible shifts to accommodate freight operations and extended travel as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Possession of a valid commercial driver's license with appropriate endorsements.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record is required.
  • Minimum of 12 months of tractor-trailer driving experience or completion of an approved driving program.
  • Proficient in operating handheld devices for freight management.
  • Strong oral communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
  • Understanding of DOT regulations related to driving and freight transportation.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Ability to pass all required medical and drug tests.
  • Must be at least 22 years old.
  • Familiarity with freight transportation procedures and loading techniques.
  • Ability to utilize the dock yard management system for tracking shipments.
