Position Overview

The role entails providing engineering and consulting expertise in substation design for clients both domestically and internationally. The incumbent will be tasked with developing electrical protection and control systems, as well as physical layout design deliverables. Projects will vary in scale, complexity, and voltage class, ranging from minor distribution upgrades to extensive transmission projects. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the resilience, reliability, and economic efficiency of the electric grid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high voltage (13kV-500kV) electrical substations.
  • Lead proposal preparation and scope development, including conceptual designs and execution strategies.
  • Generate engineering cost estimates and project schedules.
  • Conduct physical substation design, encompassing yard layouts, plans, sections, details, grounding, lightning protection, control building configurations, and auxiliary power systems.
  • Oversee protection and control design, including panel arrangements, one-line diagrams, AC schematics, and equipment wiring.
  • Prepare calculations and reports for engineering studies, such as grounding and load analysis.
  • Draft equipment specifications for procurement and factory acceptance testing.
  • Coordinate design efforts with other engineering disciplines (Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission Line, etc.).
  • Mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Engage regularly with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct quality reviews of designs and engineering work.
  • Provide on-site support during construction phases.
  • Assist in business development and marketing initiatives.
  • Participate in relay settings, 3D/intelligent design, and professional technical committees as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (a master's degree may substitute for one year of experience).
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI Standards.
  • Strong preference for candidates with:

  • The capacity to address complex challenges requiring innovative solutions.
