Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Assistant Dean of Learning Commons and Academic Support Services. This key leadership role will oversee the objectives of the Learning Commons, including the library and campus academic technology, and campus-based academic support services. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, direction, and oversight to ensure the effective delivery of student learning and support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the Learning Commons and Academic Support Services, ensuring alignment with college-wide initiatives and priorities.
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of strategic plans, policies, and procedures to enhance student learning and success.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff, including librarians, professionals, and support staff, to ensure high-quality service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with college-wide counterparts to manage the library technical services department and ensure seamless integration with academic technology.
  • Develop and manage budgets, grant proposals, and other resources to support the Learning Commons and Academic Support Services.
  • Stay current with advancements and changes in student learning, library, and academic technology, and apply this knowledge to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, with significant related experience may substitute for education.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a library, learning commons, academic support area, or related field in higher education.
  • Demonstrated success in directing learning-related support services, with a strong focus on student learning and success.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a collegial work environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others, with a strong commitment to student learning and success.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Experience with the Banner Information System and Sierra circulation software.
  • Demonstrated experience working in or supervising a library technical services department.
