The King's Daughters EMT Basic position involves safely transporting patients to and from private residences, nursing facilities, and hospitals. Responding to emergency calls, our team provides immediate care to critically ill and injured patients, and transports them to a medical facility for further treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Transport patients to and from private residences, nursing facilities, and hospitals, following instructions from dispatchers and safely driving ambulances to specific locations.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order, and maintain a clean and organized vehicle at all times.
- Administer medical treatment and transport sick or injured persons to a medical facility or between medical facilities.
- Remove or assist in removing patients from the scene of an accident or incident, determining the nature and extent of their illness or injury and establishing treatment.
- Assist treatment center admitting personnel in obtaining patient record information, including vital statistics and circumstances of transfer.
- Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program
- Achieves and maintains active State of Kentucky EMT certification
- Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current valid Driver's License
- Completion of annual emergency vehicle operators course
- Preferred Qualifications:
- State of Ohio EMT certification
- National Registry for EMT certification
Our team works in a fast-paced environment with constant exposure to blood and/or body fluids and infection. We also work near moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation.
Physical Demands- Occasionally required to maintain a stationary position (standing or sitting)
- Frequently required to walk and move about
- Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment
- Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices
- Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds
- Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds
- Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
