Position Overview

Hematology Oncology Associates of CNY (HOACNY), recognized as one of Central New York's premier workplaces, is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Nurse to enhance our dedicated team. HOACNY specializes in cancer care services, operating Monday through Friday during daytime hours across multiple locations.

Role of the Clinical Research Nurse (RN)

The Clinical Research Nurse is tasked with overseeing all facets of clinical treatment trials, ensuring compliance with HOA policies and federal and international regulations governing research involving human subjects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting study evaluations and initiations.
  • Screening and recruiting subjects for trials.
  • Collecting and submitting data in a timely and accurate manner.

Additionally, the nurse will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating protocols and feasibility, including budget assessments and trial preparations.
  • Preparing necessary documentation for initial and ongoing Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews.
  • Tracking and completing all regulatory processes, including the reporting of adverse events related to assigned studies.

The Clinical Research Nurse will provide professional nursing care to patients at Hematology-Oncology Associates participating in clinical trials, adhering to established standards and practices. In the absence of the Lead Research Nurse, this role will also involve supervising research staff.

Qualifications

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Experience: A minimum of two years of professional nursing experience in a hospital or oncology setting is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid New York State Registered Nurse license.
  • BLS Certification is required.
  • ACLS certification is recommended.
  • OCN certification must be obtained within five years of employment.
  • Certification as a Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) or Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) is desirable at the time of hire; must be obtained within three years of employment.
