Job Overview

**Part-Time Position - 20 hours per week - $12 per hour**

Role Summary: The primary responsibility is to uphold the operational standards of the thrift store while fulfilling daily tasks and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all merchandise displays, including shelves and clothing racks, are well-stocked and organized to enhance sales.
  • Collaborate with the management team to assess and accurately price items for sale.
  • Efficiently process all incoming merchandise in accordance with established protocols.
  • Perform daily tasks such as restocking merchandise on racks, shelves, counters, or tables to promote sales.
  • Learn and train on the complete processing system, including cash register operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, ensuring shelves, counters, and tables are tidy.
  • When necessary, assist customers by wrapping and bagging their purchases.
  • Consistently deliver excellent customer service by being courteous, prompt, and aligned with the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Complete any additional tasks as assigned.
Supervisory Duties: Not applicable.

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Experience in retail or cash handling is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications: The following are the minimum requirements for this position:
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic computer skills for accessing payroll and personal data through a web-based system.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to foster positive working relationships.
  • Attention to detail and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong independent judgment.
Other Requirements: Must successfully pass all required background checks and complete Safe from Harm training within the designated timeframe after hiring.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required.

Physical Demands: The physical requirements for this role include the ability to speak, hear, and see effectively, as well as excellent manual dexterity. The position may require standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods, as well as lifting or moving items weighing over 50 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment: The characteristics of the work environment include exposure to outside weather conditions and a moderate noise level typical of a retail setting.
