Job Overview

**Part-Time Position: 20 hours per week, Compensation: $12 per hour**

Position Summary: The role involves ensuring the thrift store operates at optimal levels while fulfilling daily responsibilities and tasks.

Key Responsibilities: The following duties are essential to this position:
  • Ensure that all merchandise displays, including shelves and clothing racks, are fully stocked and organized to enhance sales.
  • Collaborate with the management team to assess and accurately price items for sale as necessary.
  • Efficiently process all incoming merchandise in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Engage in daily tasks such as restocking merchandise on racks, shelves, counters, or tables to drive sales.
  • Learn and subsequently train on the complete processing system, including cash register operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, ensuring shelves, counters, and tables are tidy.
  • When required, assist customers by wrapping and bagging their purchases.
  • Consistently deliver excellent customer service by being courteous, prompt, and aligned with the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Role: This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Experience in retail or cash register operations is preferred but not mandatory.

Additional Information:

Qualifications: The following qualifications are necessary for this role:
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic computer skills to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data through a web-based system.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to foster positive working relationships.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Sound independent judgment.
Other Requirements: Candidates must pass all relevant background checks and complete Safe from Harm training within the specified timeframe after hiring, as mandated by The Salvation Army.

Physical Demands: The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. The ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods is necessary, as well as the dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment. This position may require climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees must be able to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds occasionally.
