Embedded Systems Engineer

Overview: EPITEC is seeking a skilled Embedded Systems Engineer to become a vital part of our team, dedicated to the innovation and development of prototype systems for next-generation consumer Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications. We are particularly interested in candidates who possess a diverse range of skills, including extensive knowledge of embedded systems, adept problem-solving abilities, and a passion for exploring new technological frontiers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directed initiatives to evaluate, design, create, and troubleshoot firmware for an array of AR and VR devices, encompassing advanced sensing and imaging technologies, haptic feedback systems, and audio prototypes.
- Comprehended and executed firmware on microcontrollers, utilized various peripherals, optimized power usage, supported bootloader functionalities, and managed real-time task scheduling (RTOS).
- Collaborated within a multidisciplinary team environment, making essential architectural decisions to swiftly deliver effective firmware solutions.
- Assisted in all stages of custom hardware development, including initial architectural requirements, firmware design, proof-of-concept execution, selection of microcontrollers and tools, and board initialization.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in embedded firmware development or equivalent expertise.
- Proficient in programming embedded systems using C.
- Familiarity with peripherals such as USB, SPI, MIPI CSI/DSI, I2C, UART, GPIO, etc.
- Knowledge of communication protocols, both wired and wireless, including USB, TCP/IP, Ethernet, and Bluetooth.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with embedded Linux, Kernel, Yocto, Buildroot, etc.
- Ability to enhance performance in resource-limited systems.
- Experience with either RTOS-based or bare-metal systems.
- Familiarity with high-performance or data-intensive applications.
