Job Summary

We're seeking a Sales Manager to join our N. America Flagship Business Unit (FBU) in Louisville, CO. This full-time position involves building long-term, profitable business partnerships in the US federal space. As a key member of our team, you'll proactively seek new business opportunities, develop and maintain existing customer relationships, and negotiate and close deals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively research new customers and leads, converting them into sales opportunities and successfully closing deals.
  • Manage customer accounts under the direction of the BU management and in collaboration with other sales team members.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Prepare high-quality requests for quotation (RFQ), requests for information (RFI), and requests for proposal (RFP) in accordance with the Vaisala Sales Process.
  • Assist in planning and implementing sales strategies aligned with Vaisala's strategy and market trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Collect, analyze, and document market information relevant to Vaisala business and report results.
  • Establish prices with Sales Leadership within BU guidelines and ensure profitable sales by achieving established financial expectations.
  • Provide data to Sales Leadership for budgeting and action planning, forecasting sales performance, and maintaining a robust, healthy sales funnel.
  • Support customer visits, trade shows, and events, with expected travel of 50% of the time.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field.
  • 3 years of technical sales experience in the weather enterprise or industrial instrumentation sectors, preferably in the B2G space.
  • Solid technical background and knowledge of weather observation and forecasting products and solutions.
  • Willingness and ability to grow competences by learning relevant industry standards and market-specific issues.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and well-organized team player with a positive attitude towards customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and CRM tools such as Salesforce.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Exemplary business writing skills, including RFP/RFQ experience.
