Job Overview: The Customer Service Representative I plays a vital role in the Patient Accounting department, working under the guidance of the Customer Service Supervisor and the Director of Patient Accounting. This position is essential for managing various billing tasks aimed at reducing accounts receivable and improving collection outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist customers both in-person and via telephone to address inquiries and resolve issues related to their account balances.
- Process, record, and balance daily financial transactions.
- Collaborate with external entities to address payment and collection challenges.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; an advanced degree or ongoing education is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience in Patient Financial Services, Patient Accounting, Accounts Receivable, or a similar business environment is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- A professional demeanor when interacting with the public.
- A reliable work history demonstrating consistent attendance and punctuality.
Language Proficiency:
Candidates must be able to:
- Read and communicate effectively in English.
- Clearly articulate financial requirements to patients.
- Engage effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other departments, both verbally and in writing.
