Company Overview

What if...you could be part of an organization that pioneers, funds, and develops life sciences enterprises focused on groundbreaking technologies aimed at revolutionizing health care and sustainability?

Prologue Medicines is committed to redefining drug discovery by utilizing profound biological insights and state-of-the-art scientific advancements. Our mission is to deliver transformative therapies that meet critical unmet medical needs. As a member of our innovative and collaborative team, you will have the chance to make a significant impact on global health.

Flagship Pioneering is a biotechnology firm that invents and cultivates platform companies, each with the potential to produce multiple products that enhance human health or sustainability. Since its inception in 2000, Flagship has initiated and nurtured over 100 scientific ventures, generating more than $90 billion in total value. Many of the companies founded by Flagship have tackled some of humanity's most pressing challenges: vaccinating billions against COVID-19, curing difficult diseases, enhancing human health, preventing illness, and improving agricultural resilience and sustainability. Flagship has been recognized twice on FORTUNE's "Change the World" list, an annual ranking of companies that have made a positive social and environmental impact through their core business strategies, and has also been named to Fast Company's annual list of the World's Most Innovative Companies.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly driven and imaginative scientist to broaden the scope of our DELVE platform, which aims to unlock the therapeutic potential of the viral proteome. This position is perfect for a candidate who is enthusiastic about advancing scientific innovation to discover new methods for leveraging and developing the capabilities of evolutionarily optimized proteins. Your work will focus on viral proteins, exploring their mechanisms, interactions, and potential roles in regulating human physiology. Additionally, you will assess and develop delivery platforms to ensure optimal subcellular and tissue-specific localization. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and researchers to design, conduct, and analyze experiments that provide 'Proof-of-Concept' data demonstrating the therapeutic potential of viral proteins in various in vitro and in vivo disease models.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead research initiatives to investigate the therapeutic applications of viral proteins across different diseases.
  • Design and implement laboratory experiments, analyzing data to test hypotheses and propel project progress.
  • Keep updated with the latest advancements in life sciences, proteomics, and drug delivery, applying innovative techniques and methodologies in your research.
  • Collaborate with computational biologists to interpret proteomic data and predict protein interactions and functions.
  • Draft research papers, reports, and present findings at scientific conferences and to non-scientific audiences.
  • Engage with the intellectual property team to patent promising discoveries.
  • Guide junior scientists and technicians in laboratory techniques and scientific principles.
Qualifications:
  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Virology, Immunology, or a related discipline, with a solid foundation in protein science or biotechnology.
  • A minimum of 12+ years of postdoctoral experience in a research setting.
  • At least 6 years of industry experience with a proven track record of developing innovative platforms or products, evidenced by high-quality publications or patents.
  • Experience in gene or protein delivery utilizing emerging modalities such as lentivirus, LNPs, or AAVs.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a creative and innovative mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with CRISPR, RNAi technologies, and other gene-editing tools is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge in autoimmune diseases, oncology, or infectious diseases.
  • Experience with bioinformatics and computational biology tools.
At Flagship, we understand that there is no ideal candidate. If you possess some of the experience listed above but not all, we encourage you to apply. Experience takes many forms, skills are transferable, and passion is invaluable. We are committed to building diverse and inclusive teams and look forward to learning more about your unique background.

Recruitment & Staffing Agencies: Flagship Pioneering and its affiliated Flagship Lab companies (collectively, "FSP") do not accept unsolicited resumes from any source other than candidates. The submission of unsolicited resumes by recruitment or staffing agencies to FSP or its employees is strictly prohibited unless contacted directly by Flagship Pioneering's internal Talent Acquisition team.
