Mercy Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing laboratory tests and analyzing results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including testing and analyzing patient samples.
  • Interpret and report laboratory results to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Identify and correct problems within the scope of training and education.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and validate laboratory equipment.
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Assist with inventory management, scheduling, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct competency assessments and training for laboratory staff.
  • Develop and evaluate new methods of testing, as needed.
Requirements
  • MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligibility by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP).
  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry from a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program.
  • Preferred: completion of an externship program.
