Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Services Representative to join our team at Effingham Hospital Inc. as a Patient Financial Advisor. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional financial planning assistance to patients, ensuring accurate registration, and maintaining documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform registration for all patients presenting for service, ensuring accurate and timely completion of necessary forms.
  • Obtain, input, and transcribe accurate patient data, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Verify insurance benefits, calculate, and collect estimated liability from patients, as well as obtain payment of applicable co-payments, deductibles, and/or co-insurance.
  • Meet with patients to discuss financing options, assess their insurance status, and provide education on their insurance benefits.
  • Work with ARx Outbound report to collect on accounts that were not collected on the date of service, and provide a courteous response to patient contact and answer questions on accounts or collections.
  • Responsible for performing daily census rounds, forwarding accurate information to the Business Office, Centralized Scheduling, Patient Access Supervisor, and Patient Access Manager.
  • Assist with switchboard duties as necessary, and provide Advance Directives and Organ/Tissue Donor information to all patients as per hospital policy/procedure.
  • Act as an ambassador for the facility, interacting with clients, family members, and staff in a friendly, caring, and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Minimum Level of Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal Training: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Licensure, Certification, Registration: Hometown Health Certifications required, with annual renewal.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 12 months (1 year) experience in customer service, patient registration, and/or collections, with a comfort level with out-of-pocket collections activities.
