POSITION SUMMARY

This professional-level role is integral to the Intelligence and National Security Alliance's mission of promoting biodiversity conservation and restoration. The Policy Analyst is responsible for developing and advocating for national policies, securing essential funding, and fostering conservation partnerships aimed at wildlife preservation on private lands. This position collaborates with various departments, including Field Conservation, Government Relations, and Conservation Law, to conduct thorough policy research and analysis, thereby advancing science-based wildlife conservation initiatives across the nation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of federal and selected state laws, regulations, and policies pertinent to wildlife conservation on private lands.
  2. Prepare informative materials such as summaries, factsheets, technical comments, and testimony that articulate policies and the organization's stance on them.
  3. Collaborate with Government Relations staff to educate congressional offices on conservation policy issues related to private lands, identifying legislative advocates and coordinating outreach efforts.
  4. Establish and nurture positive relationships with congressional staff, federal agency officials, state governments, landowner organizations, and other stakeholders to achieve common conservation objectives.
  5. Participate in local, regional, or national meetings focused on private lands and state wildlife conservation policy.
  6. Research, write, and edit reports, web content, blogs, and other publications for the organization.
  7. Represent the organization in public meetings, hearings, press events, and conferences to promote its objectives.
  8. Collaborate with Development staff to secure funding for the Landscape Conservation department.
  9. Travel as necessary for work-related purposes.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's (B.A./B.S.) degree or equivalent

Experience: 4 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position may involve sedentary work primarily involving sitting or standing, with occasional travel required. The role does not expose the employee to adverse environmental conditions.
