Position Summary
The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in achieving the company's purchasing objectives by engaging with vendors and representing the organization with professionalism.

  • Establish and nurture partnerships with vendors while negotiating pricing and supply contracts as directed by management for materials and services.
  • Analyze current vendor pricing to ensure competitiveness in the marketplace.
  • Assess procurement data and track essential purchasing metrics.
  • Manage purchase orders and scheduling for daily outsourced manufacturing services and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) products. Expedite supplier services as instructed by the Production Manager.
  • Strategically issue and schedule purchase orders to maintain a steady supply of products.
  • Conduct regular supplier visits to evaluate their service quality through surveys and audits in collaboration with the Director of Quality.
  • Address discrepancies between supplier invoices and purchase orders.
  • Provide insights and feedback regarding competitive positioning based on supplier interactions.
  • Monitor open orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and present recommendations to management.
  • Assist Customer Service and Manufacturing teams with inventory management of procured goods.
  • Support sales efforts by obtaining quotes from suppliers for customer proposal submissions.
  • Help develop bills of materials for customer quotations.
  • Identify and source new suppliers as required for customer needs.
  • Serve as a backup for Customer Service/Supplier Coordinator, managing customer orders, entries, and communications with various department managers to resolve issues related to delivery, quality, pricing, and changes in customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to facilitate the purchase of supplies and capital equipment used in manufacturing.
  • Support new initiatives by understanding materials, services, costs, and lead times.
  • Work with Engineering to gather technical and process information necessary for quotations.
  • Engage with management for reporting on cost improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with IT for assistance with capital purchases.
  • Support manufacturing operations with inventory management of purchased goods.
  • Identify key industry opportunities for cost reduction.
